3/13/2020 0 Comments Week 3: Anime Studio DebutAnimation 2 Students and Parents/Guardians: By now, you should have received the district's communication about COVID-19 and the closure of the schools. The safety of our students, families, and community is of the utmost importance. One of the best ways to alleviate the stress and anxiety of sheltering in place is maintaining our routine. While we cannot be at school together, we can continue our studies online. We are going to continue our animation lessons just like we would in class. I am working to post installers for trial versions of the software that we use for both Mac and PC. I am finding it difficult to locate Flip Boom Doodle, so if you were unable to complete all of your Flip Boom Doodle projects on time, you will have some time to complete those during Open Lab when we return to school. This week, we will be able to begin on our Anime Studio lessons. If you are unable to install the demo of Anime Studio Debut (or Mojo Debut), please read the instructions, watch the videos, and gather as much as possible from them. This will allow you to take the quizzes for those lessons. Here is the Mac Version of Anime Studio Debut 9.5 Here is the Mac Version of Flip Boom Doodle If you do not have a computer at home, let me know and I will see what I can do to assist. The district may be loaning chrome books out to students this week. If that occurs, I will be posting some chrome book options for students to continue their animation studies. If you are without internet access at home, Comcast is also offering free internet to many students for 60 days. If this plan changes, I will post on our Weebly. I'll be available daily via email and will have our lectures recorded and up on this Weebly. If you have questions, please contact me at [email protected]. It is best to use your student lvjusd.org account or for parents/guardians to reach out using their email. So, let's stay safe, stay at home, and keep on learning! Let's get through this together. Monday, March 16, 2019 Lesson 1 Squash and Stretch
HW: Study for Quiz on Lesson 1 and 2 Wed If we're working at home, please download the free trial for Anime Studio Debut 12 (now called Mojo Studio Debut - but try for version 12): https://my.smithmicro.com/anime-studio-debut-trial.html As a trial version, it may not be able to export your projects. If that is the case, please upload your finished files to your SchoolLoop dropbox. Once we return to school, you can download your files to your computer, export them there, and then turn them in. I heard from one student that they were unable to download the trial version for Mac. That is an installer that I have access to and you can download it here. It does not have its registration code, so it should open in trial/demo mode. I will attempt to get my hands on the PC installer, so if you're trying to download it and are having issues, please let me know. I also have the Mac Installer for Flip Boom Doodle. You can download it here and it should also open as a demo/trial version. For PC Installers, Here is the PC installer for Anime Studio Debut 9.5 (as the closest match to what we use in the classroom). It should run in trial/demo mode. You can also download the latest PC version of Mojo (v13) here if you were not able to download it from the SmithMicro Site. Tuesday, March 17, 2019 Lesson 2 Exaggeration
Wednesday, March 18, 2019
Thursday, March 19, 2019 I'm hearing from some students that they're having difficulty with the software. If possible, please watch the Tutorial "How to Video" for the lessons. That will help you keep up. Monday, I am going to try to hold a Zoom video session during our class time (1:55 - 3:05PM) and answer as many technical questions as possible and hopefully get as many of you up and running on the software as possible. Each of the Anime Studio Debut lessons should take you about 35-50 minutes to complete, so even if we get you started on Lessons 1-3 next week, we'll be caught up before Spring Break would have happened. As for stressing out about not getting lessons done (completely or on time) - don't stress. Yes, I want you to participate. But, anything turned in and graded will only be graded based on what is turned in. We have some students who can't even participate right now because of situations beyond their control. I'm not going to penalize any of you for what you're unable to do while we're out. That isn't an excuse to play Mindcraft 20 hours a day. But, don't let yourself stress out because of things that are out of your control. Believe me, I've done enough of that for all of us... In the meantime, try to get Anime Studio Debut installed on your computer at home and try to view the tutorial videos for lessons 1-3. Oh, and take a break from everything else and watch some good animation, draw, play with some legos, or create/present a story with some Barbie, Star Wars, or My Little Pony action figures. Also, keeping social distancing in mind, please try to get outside - even if it's just in your back yard - to get some fresh air and sunshine. Stay safe and hang in there... Begin Lesson 3 Anticipation Files:
Friday, March 20, 2019 • I took a break from things last night and watched Frozen 2. If you haven't seen it and have the ability to watch it, I highly encourage you to. It's pretty amazing. It has so many examples of the principles of animation and you might feel a little better about your situation as we continue to venture into the unknown. Scroll down below to watch Olaf sing the amazing song, "When I am Older". Finish Lesson 3 Anticipation Files: Export Video & Submit Lesson 3 Animation to School Loop - This is not an option if you are using the demo version of Anime Studio Debut or Mojo Studio. For now, please upload your finished project file to your SchoolLoop Locker. Once we're back at Granada, we will take a day just to download, open, export, and turn in your finished projects. Begin Lesson 4 Secondary Action Files: Export Video & Submit Lesson 4 Animation to School Loop - This is not an option if you are using the demo version of Anime Studio Debut or Mojo Studio. For now, please upload your finished project file to your SchoolLoop Locker. Once we're back at Granada, we will take a day just to download, open, export, and turn in your finished projects. Next Week: Please plan for a Zoom Video Conference/Chat session on Monday 1:55 - 3:05PM. I'll have details up as soon as possible on how to join. I would like to check in with anyone participating and try to troubleshoot any issues that people are having with software. If we have unique situations, I can book specific times with each person for later in the day or Tuesday to deal with your needs. But, I believe that this will help us figure out who's got what running and how quickly (or slowly) we need to move through the lessons. I would also like to try to demonstrate Lesson 1 in Anime Studio Debut so that students can follow along. If this seems like a format that works for people, we can meet every day on Zoom from 1:55 - 3:05 just to hang out, animate, and ask/answer questions. We will also be using Quizlet for some of our things now - ideally, the Anime Studio Debut Quizes. Please join our quizlet class by visiting this link and request to join. If that link doesn't work, copy and paste this into your browser: https://quizlet.com/join/Nm5B2WQCB Once you're on Quizlet, try studying for and taking the Principles of Animation quiz for practice to make sure that everything is working.
